My name is Deborah Holladay and I am very fortunate to be part of the BLES faculty. I am originally from Columbia, SC. I graduated from Dreher High School and USC with certification in the areas of Early Childhood, Emotionally Disabled, and Learning Disabilities. I am a National Board Certified teacher.
I live at Lake Murray with my husband, Neal Smith, and my two spoiled dogs! I enjoy kayaking at the lake and the beach, collecting leaves in the fall, lifting weights and running, and reading. My Christian faith is an important aspect of who I am, and I strive to live a life that is pleasing to my Lord and Savior.
My goal in teaching is for all of my students to develop skills in responsibility, self-advocacy, and self-control, as well as becoming more proficient in the academic areas of reading, written expression, math.
I serve students with Learning Disabilities in a resource settting. Students are given supplemental instruction in the areas of reading, written expression, and math. Small group instruction and support services for the general education academics will enable each child to become more successful/independent in school and in the real world! I encourage my students to believe in themselves and to always do their best in every situation. I encourage parents to communicate with me on a regular basis as I believe parental communication is vital for a child to be successful in school.

I am looking for parents who would be willing to come share about his/her career. I want my students to start thinking about where they want to be in 10 years.....what do they need to be doing to achieve career goals, how can they can plan for their future.... even if he/she is in the 4th or 5th grade! Class Grading PolicyResource grades are averaged in with the general curriculum grades for each subject.
HomeworkI do not assign homework. The resource class serves as supplementary support for the general curriculum.
Progress ReportsProgress reports will be sent home at the end of each grading period. The progress report will give information about the progress of the student's IEP goals and objectives.
I do call and send notes home frequently. Please check your answering machines for my messages! Parents are welcome to email or call anytime there is a concern or question regarding their child. Discussion Topics |
