Ms. Holladay

My name is Deborah Holladay and I am very fortunate to be part of the BLES and BLMS faculty. I teach 7/8th grade resource classes at the Middle School each day and teach 4/5th grade resource classes at the Elementary School for the second half of the day! It has been a joy reconnecting with former students at the Middle School. I am originally from Columbia, SC. I graduated from Dreher High School and USC with certification in the areas of Early Childhood, Emotionally Disabled, and Learning Disabilities. I am a National Board Certified teacher.

I currently live at Lake Murray with 3 very loved and very spoiled dogs! I enjoy kayaking at the lake and the beach, collecting leaves in the fall, lifting weights and running, and reading. My Christian faith is an important aspect of who I am, and I strive to live a life that is pleasing to my Lord and Savior.

My goal in teaching is for all of my students to develop skills in responsibility, self-advocacy, and self-control, as well as becoming more proficient in the academic areas of reading, written expression, math.

I serve students with Learning Disabilities in a resource setting.  Students are given supplemental instruction in the areas of reading, written expression, and math. Small group instruction and support services for the general education academics will enable each child to become more successful/independent in school and in the real world! I encourage my students to believe in themselves and to always do their best in every situation. I encourage parents to communicate with me on a regular basis as I believe parental communication is vital for a child to be successful in school.

Ms. Holladay's Announcements
Parent Email Addresses
In addtition to phone call and notes, I would like to be able to communicate with parents through email. I would appreciate it if you would send me your email address. You can send it to my school address at dholladay@lex3.k12.sc.us. I believe this will be one more way that I will be able to have more regular contact with each of you. I want my students and parents to feel comfortable contacting me with concerns, praise, guestions, etc.  I truly believe that a student is more successful in school when the parents and teacher have a good working relationship.
Homework
I do not assign homework. The resource class serves as supplementary support for the general curriculum.

Progress Reports
Progress reports will be sent home every 4 1/2 weeks with interims and report cards. The progress report will give information about the progress of the student's IEP goals and objectives.

I do call and send notes home frequently. Please check your answering machines for my messages!

Parents are welcome to email or call anytime there is a concern or question regarding their child.
